Coronasaywhat?

It’s been quite the week in the Pacific Northwest. I don’t know if yall have heard about this little bug going around, the COVID - 19? Yeah.. he’s a nasty little bug but we can’t actually figure out if he’s just a little bug or the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. Add to that - the nursing home that is at “the epicenter of the US outbreak”… ? Yes.. that one.. well that is about three minutes from my house. It’s a neighborhood business, surrounded by..well, neighborhoods and businesses. Sadly, the count of residents who have passed away is now around 12 — and that’s in a week. Now — here’s the problem… are we getting all the info? Are we, the public, getting all the RIGHT info? How do we know? And let me tell you.. the people around here..??? Yo, it’s like Mad Max and we are heading towards Thunderdome. Two men enter, one man leaves. For real. Only it’s over toilet paper and bottled water. What. the. hell???

We don’t need another hero, Mel. Or.. wait… do we?

So..here we are… over a week into the virus showing up in WA state, and now it has spread to every region in the US. I’m not surprised, and that is not what scares me. I think this virus has been in the country for a while, only we didn’t test for it because we didn’t know we needed to. We are going to see a significant increase in the number of cases reported, because now we know.

And.. life continues on. Schools around us are closed for up to two weeks, big businesses are having their employees telecommute. There is literally no traffic. And hey .. with this new emphasis on washing hands, maybe we will see a decrease in cases of flu and other airborne illnesses. They’ve JUST announced the postponing of Emerald City Comic-Con and South by Southwest in Austin, and I expect we will see other large events doing the same. It’s gonna be an interesting few weeks for sure.

Maybe I can get caught up on my blogposts? :)
