Stay. You matter more than you know.

THE IDEA

WHAT IF A STRANGER LEFT YOU EXACTLY THE WORDS YOU NEEDED?

Take What You Need started with a simple idea: what if we made it a little easier for people to remind each other that they matter?

We write messages of encouragement, kindness, hope, and support on sticky notes and leave them in places where another person might find them.

The person who finds one doesn't know who wrote it.

The person who wrote it doesn't know who will find it.

And that's kind of the magic.

It's just one human being saying to another:

Hey. I don't know you. But I'm glad you're here.

HOW IT WORKS

WRITE ONE. LEAVE ONE. TAKE ONE.

Three simple steps:

WRITE ONE
Write a few words that might make somebody smile, feel seen, or keep going.

LEAVE ONE
Put it somewhere another human being might find it.

TAKE ONE
If you find a note that speaks to you, it's yours. Take it with you.

There are no rules about having the perfect words. You don't have to be a poet. You don't have to know someone's story.

Just write something kind.

WHY WE DO IT

BECAUSE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THEY MATTER.

We are losing too many people to suicide, and it hurts my heart.

Take What You Need isn't a replacement for professional help, and it isn't meant to solve something as complicated as suicide or mental health with a sticky note.

It's something smaller.

It's a reminder.

A tiny interruption in somebody's day that says you are seen. You are worth something. You matter here.

We may never know whether one of these notes makes a difference.

But we can make sure the note is there.

WANT TO PARTICIPATE?

LEAVE A LITTLE KINDNESS BEHIND.

You don't need permission. You don't need to sign up. You don't need to be part of an organization.

Grab some sticky notes. Write something kind. Leave them where people can find them.

Or come join us when we're making notes together.

Because kindness doesn't need a membership card.

Need more than a sticky note? If you or someone you know is in immediate emotional distress or thinking about suicide, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
